Keyboard not working in Finder?!

Ok, obviously my keyboard is working because I am typing in here, but it only works within an application, I thought it was just my hot keys that weren't working for closing folders and such, but when I went to rename a folder nothing works. Yet it is working within any program that I open no problem. Any help?
Thanks
Jon

I'm having the same issue

started happening when I tried to manually rename multiple files and add extensions to extensionless files. Also - the folders I'm dealing with have several folders and files with extensive directory layers. I have repaired permissions, trashed com.apple.finder.plist, and restarted, which fixes the problem temporarily; however, once I start trying to rename files using the finder, I'm back to where I started.

I posted this in another topic also - it seems that people have been having this issue a LONG time, over multiple systems, running different version of the OS.

here's the link to the other discussion - although it doesn't really answer the problem, at least we know it isn't isolated.

How did you go about renaming the folder? Clicking on the selected folders name? Using Get Info from right-click?
What happens when you create a new folder on your desktop and then immediately hit the spacebar?

I have the same problem, and it just suddenly happened. Working one moment, and not the next.

Relaunching the finder did solve the problem.

Is it possible this has something to do with other USB devices connected?

I have the following attached (and have ever since I had the computer)
1. Logitech Wireless Trackman Wheel Mouse (connected through keyboard)
2. USB hub
3. 2 SimpleTech Drives attached to hub (turned off when this happened)
4. Epson CX6000 attached to hub (turned off when this happened)

Yesterday, I had another problem where the whole computer locked up when I turned the printer on and I had message pop up at the same time that the Logitech Mouse had been connected. It was already connected however.

After restarting the machine, every thing worked fine until today.
