Setting up my iPhone to receive may symaptico emails...no success...Help!

I have tried with no success to set up my sympatico on my iPhone. Although I feel I have the right setting, it's still not working. I would appreciate help for this...I thought maybe I had wrong set-up and was looking to reset the setting but can't find any way to do this...

So, here is the info I have been using:
a) entering my symaptico e-mail and password as they are on my PC/ Outlook settings
b) Saving and going under POP settings...
c) Entered pophm.sympatico.ca and again my e-mail address as my sympatico user name, then the password
d) Finally entered smtphm.sympatico.ca (not entering user name/password as optional)
e) Save......
f) and not working...it keeps saying the pophm.sympatico.ca is not responding...

I verified with Sympatico but they are of no help in fixing this, nor Rogers...

I read posts about SSL however was never asked that question, so I don't know anymore...

Anybody knows the issue and answer? That will be greatly appreciated
If I need to reset, how?

Anyway....awaiting some great help
Thanks

I have decided to start from scratch, deleting the e-mail set-up and strt over...

I got some improvements as I can now receive e-mails; however I can't get any sent...

My iPhone keeps saying the e-mail address is incorrect which is not...I have tried a few different e-mail address with people I could ask but none went through, always the same "incorrect e-mail address" message...

I have been using what sympatico people have been telling me for outgoing mail which is smtphm.sympatico.ca

So half way there but still a nightmare to figure out what can again be wrong!

Please help
Thanks

I've just spent a few days trying to set up a new email account directly on my iphone and ran into the same brick wall. If it doesn't like the initial settings, it's difficult to get even a faulty account established so that you can tweak the settings.

I finally relented and did it the way I set up other accounts successfully. I established the account on my computer (MacBook using Mail) then synced it in iTunes.

Strange thing, it changed the SSL port from 465 to 995 and it works fine now.

Setting up Sympatico in your iPhone:

Incoming Mail Server:
Host - pophm.sympatico.ca
Username - full email add
Password - password

Outgoing Mail server:
SMTP - smtp1sympatico.ca [please note there is No dot btwn smtp & sympatico]

Go to smtp settings and your:
Primary Server - smtp1sympatico.ca will be On.
Now select Primary server:
Host smtp1sympatico.ca
Username - not necessary
Password - not necessary
Use SSL - On
Authentication - password
Server Port - 25

Other SMTP Servers settings:
smtphm.sympatico.ca will be On
Rogers SMTP Server will be on [pls note they both have to be turned On, don't have to do

anything more]

Advanced settings:

Use SSl - On
Authentication - Password
Server Port 995

You will be able to Send and Receive mail from Sympatico But if you have other custom

folders under your main sympatico setup, they somehow do not show up on the iPhone. But the

important and most relieving part is that you will now be able to Send and Receive mail with

ease. Any questions, please post and any new discoveries, please share.

I had the same problem and I just solved it by calling Bell Sympatico customer service. Here is what you have to do to set up your Sympatico e-mail account in your iPhone:

Go to settings
Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Select the Account

POP Account Information:
Name : Put your Name
Address : put your sympatico e-mail address@sympatico.ca
Description : again put your sympatico e-mail address@sympatico.ca

Incoming Mail Server:
Host Name : pophm.sympatico.ca
Username : put your sympatico e-mail address@sympatico.ca
Password : put your sympatico e-mail password

Outgoing Mail server:
SMTP : smtphm.sympatico.ca

Go to smtp settings and your:
Primary Server : smtphm.sympatico.ca will be On.
Now select Primary server:
Host Name : smtphm.sympatico.ca
User Name : put your sympatico e-mail address@sympatico.ca
Password : put your sympatico e-mail password
Use SSL : On
Authentication - password
Server Port - 25

And That is it, I just did it and it works. I hope this will help all of you, let me know!!!
