Ipod Touch 2nd gen & external speakers

The Touch internal speaker automatically disables when a plug is inserted into the headphone jack.

Any speaker system will work if it connects to the headphone jack, assuming the headphone jack is working with the headphones that came with the Touch.

I have the same problem, I am extremely frustrated and about to return my ipod touch 2nd generation. I have an Ihome model ih27 which says its compatable with sencond generation ipod touch however when I connect it, it will charge but music will only come out of the ipod touch speaker not the ihome speaker, there has to be a way to play the ipod through external speakers. Also very frustrated b/c I can't find anyway to email apple for support on this only option is for itunes help.

YES i have the exact same problem; speakers worked fine with ipod nano then when i upgrade to ipod touch 2nd generation it doesnt work. in fact, they did work the first couple of times i put my touch onto the speakers but now they dont, even on the $300 speakers my dad bought me for christmas that says on the box 'desgined for ipod' and displays the speakers with an ipod touch connected to it. the strange thing is that my dads iphone works on it without a problem.
I tried connecting my ipod to the speakers through the double ended cord that goes into the headphone jack, and it worked fine however i want the ipod docked as 1) it looks good and 2) it gets charged at the same time. also, if anyones having problems with this, make sure that the volume on the actual ipod is up high, not just on the speakers.
