Dock is frozen — impossible to add or delete items from the dock

Hi. I just migrated my old macbookpro to a new one. I also installed the new Adobe CS4 software. When I wanted to replace the CS3 with the CS4 items in the doc, I found out that I couldn't move, add or delete items from the dock. So I thought, must be a right issue like it is stated in the help files. However, I'm the only user ànd administrator. So how can that be? Anyone have an idea? Thanks.

reset your dock preferences. delete the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.dock.plist and restart Dock by entering the following terminal command

killall Dock

Your dock will be reset to the default one and the locking issue should go away.

Alternatively, if you want to keep your dock settings as they are, you could open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, copy the blue text in, and press enter.

defaults write com.apple.dock contents-immutable -bool false;killall Dock

What that command does is tells the dock to unlock its contents, and then relaunch.

Good luck!
