Will Office 2004 for Mac still work on the new Macbooks?
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but here it is: I use an iBook G4 and am planning to upgrade to the new aluminum Macbook. I use Microsoft Office for Mac 2004 (only Word and Excel) on the IBook. When I migrate my stuff over to the Macbook, will I still be able to use Office 2004 or will I have to upgrade to the new Office, since I'm going from a PowerPC chip to the new Intel one?
Office 2004 will work fine under Leopard on an intel Mac. It will run slightly slower than the new 2008 version. This is because Office 2004 is not written in the Universal language and it will therefore run within rosetta. Office 2008 is in Univeral Language and therefore runs natively under Leopard.
In short, you will be fine running Office 2004 with Leopard on an intel Mac and probably won't even notice the loss of speed as you are going to a faster processor than what you have currently.
I just bought the new macbook and I would like to transfer microsoft office from my old macbook to my new one. Is this possible and if so what's the best way to do this?
connect the two machines together using an ethernet cable and open migration assistant on the NEW machine.. follow the instructions on screen, you can transfer files, user accounts and applications all over..
if you don't have an ethernet lead i believe you can do this over a wireless network.
