Opening Flash Files

Question

Opening Flash Files

I know Quicktime doesn't support Flash files anymore. I need to download flash files from "Animationfactory.com". Then open them then convert them to a .mov file.

Simple question - what software package do I need to get/buy that will open those downloaded flash files and convert them for me. I tried "MPEG Streamclip 1.9.2" doesn't work in my case.

http://perian.org can view .flv formats via QuickTime and the Pro upgrade can export them to other formats.

Thanks but this didn't work - I need to open .FLA files not .FLV.

"Perian doesn't open flash files, but instead flash video files (.flv). Perhaps you used a different component to open flash files?"

You'll need to spend the big bucks to get a version of Flash to open .fla files.
Only Flash (.swf) "movies" could be opened with QuickTime Pro and only those "published" as Flash version 5.
After QuickTime 7.3.1 support for .swf has ended in QuickTime for security concerns.

I would look a different format as the learning curve is as steep as its price.
QuickTime Pro can open and export the ancient .gif file format.

At one end of the scale you could purchase Adobe Flash Professional ($699) and at the other you could use the free Adobe Flash Player to open/play the files in a browser and use a video screen capture application to create a video clip. If you have a "Pro" membership to AnimationFactory.Com, the the former approach would be the most logical. On the other hand, if you a a non-member and just gathering the watermarked downloads without audio, then I suppose there is no reason for a major investment in software.

Added: Oops, not sure about FLA and alternative approach...

Any suggestions as to what software package(s) to look at?
Adobe Flash Professional ($699), Design Premium ($1799), Web Premium (1699), Production Medium ($1699), Master Collection ($2499).
