30" Cinema Display doesn't "wake" when MacPro is booted up.

Hi all,

I've had this issue for a couple of months now. When starting up my MacPro, 80-90% of the time the monitor/display stays black. After touching the On button on the right side of the display two or three times, I finally get the monitor to turn on. Throughout this time the little sleep/wake light pulses.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

MacPro, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

I have a new unibody MBP with the minidv.

At work, I plug into a 30" using the Dual link DVI adapter, for about 2 weeks or so, I've been having black screen upon plug-in of the usb and mini dv plug. No little white LED, nothing. I initially thought the screen was dead and hauled it to the genius bar. Of course all was found OK with the monitor.

Ive found my own workaround which is to plug in an iPod (and iPhone wont work) Plugging in an iPod will make the screen light up.

Here's the kicker, I have a 30' inch at home, same accessories (apple aluminum keyboard, magic mouse) and it works fine, there. Always lights up the monitor immediately whenever I plug in the usb and minidv. Ive interchanged the power bricks AND the mini DV dual link adapters. No change.

Im perplexed.
