The KCRW Simulcast has not been working for the last few days- when I try to select it, I get a 'Getting Playlist' window and status bar that never connects. Other stations are connecting and playing normally. I have noticed that this happens periodically, sometimes for a matter of an hour or so, sometimes for several days. Is this a problem on KCRW's end, Itunes, or my machine? How can I figure out the source of the problem?
1. Obtain another PC/Mac and try and access the station
2. Try and access the station on another internet network
3. If this occurs on multiple machines and multiple networks. The next step is to contact the radio station and see if they had any reports of this and is it an issue with them they are working on.
If they say everything is good on there end. All I can recommend is submitting feedback on this to Apple.
I have had the same problem since Thursday, November 13, 2008. I did a Google search on "KCRW Simulcast," and besides your post showing, I followed the first listing and solved this problem.
Following is the solution that worked for me:
1. In Safari, go to "http://legacy.kcrw.com/grid/"
2. Click on the yellow button titled "Listen using MP3 Player" towards the top center of the screen
A new KCRW Simulcast listing appeared in iTunes and KCRW immediately started streaming.
I have had the same problem for as many days. I tried this solution, but it did not work. It continues to sit there with a frozen "Getting Playlist" popup, but never connects or starts playing. I am able to listen to KCRW using Firefox (i.e., using a web browser), and I am able to use iTunes to listen to other radio stations. Argh!
I have tried three different computers on the same network and none of them are able to connect to KCRW via Itunes Radio. I am able to connect via KCRW's website stream, but it seems to require more system resources to do so, and noticeably slows my machine. I have not had a chance to try another network as yet, though it sounds like others are experiencing a similar problem. Starting to sound like it is either Itunes or KCRW...?
yes, kcrw has been a real problem lately on itunes - it's the station that gets us all through the day, and the only station that doesn't work on itunes lately
We are aware that the KCRW Simulcast and Music streams are not working properly and are currently working to resolve the problem. Thank you for your patience as we resolve this issue.
The Simulcast and Music channels have been restored in iTunes radio. They are located under the category of "Eclectic". Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve this issue.
