SASL authentication failed

Having a little trouble with sending mail. I use rollernet to forward emails from my home server on port 2525 as my ISP blocks 25. I get the following error and am not sure where to go next -

relay=smtpauth.rollernet.us[208.79.240.5]:2525, delay=0.85, delays=0.01/0.01/0.83/0, dsn=4.7.0, status=deferred (SASL authentication failed; cannot authenticate to server smtpauth.rollernet.us[208.79.240.5]: no mechanism available)

The rollernet help page has the following:

All clients must submit messages to smtpauth.rollernet.us on port 25, 2525, 587, or 465. Port 465 always runs in SSL mode for some clients (such as Outlook Express) which expect unconditional SSL. Ports 25, 2525, and 587 may use TLS or unencrypted connections. We recommend using TLS with port 587 for maximum security and portability.

Any ideas on what to do next?

You need to tell postfix the username and password to use when relaying mail through your upstream server - by default it doesn't use any and that's why your mail is failing.

Google for smtp sasl_passwordmaps for examples of how to do this (you will need to do this via the command line since Server Admin doesn't provide a GUI for this option.

Thanks for the tip.

I'm using the latest version of leopard server and it does provide a relay setting for mail. It enables sasl auth and creates a passwd file in /etc/postfix/sasl along with the hash db. It contains the rollernet server with the port appended 'smtpauth.rollernet.us:2525' followed by the username and password. I added an entry for 'smtpauth.rollernet.us' (no port) and rebuilt the hash db, and restarted mail. Got the same error as before.

I did find one web site that talked about doing what I did above plus bringing in root certs. I haven't imported any certs because I don't believe rollernet is requiring them.

Any more ideas?
