And I like the new black on silver look, and the new touch pad with the gestures is awesome. Not crazy about the missing button, but the other features make up for the lack of a physical button - I'm adjusting.
Cost aside, if you had a choice between the new style Macbook Pro 15" vs. the old style Macbook Pro 17"...which would you select, and why? I'm having a hard time making a choice between the two. Bigger screen, higher res. screen or the new updates and design features with a smaller screen.

Well, I would have been happy with something smaller then a 15" - but I needed the Pro graphics and I doubt they are going to do another pro level sub-notebook like my PB 12", so 15" it was. 17" is right out - I don't want to lug something that big around. The 15" barely fits in my existing bags as it is. I have a second larger LCD monitor on my desk I use when I need more screen real estate.

So here's a question- with this new revision of the Mac Book Pro 15"- have they worked out the bug with the graphics chip that somebody mentioned? I'm in the market- My Powerbook is getting to the point where I can actually call it old...

The rumors of the bug that through the miracles of internet amplification are being passed on as fact?
Sigh... If there was a real, consistent flaw these forums would be on fire. They aren't. I wouldn't worry about it - I know I'm not. That's what warranties are for...
Now, I just bought a mbp 15, new gen. I have owned other mac laptops over the years and I have a mac pro. I like the 15 myself, the size is better for me, HOWEVER I don't want some users here to miss the good things about the 17. That machine is one-****-off-a-desktop-replacement.
You may have to lug it around a little, but if you really need to do serious professional work in really random places, the 17 is a dream! I know a photographer, who essentially does half of his profession on planes! He takes pictures, edits them in flight, then lands and takes more!
Sometimes sacrificing a wee bit of size for being able to pull a whoping 17" of professionalism out of your bag is worth it.

I just bought my first Mac two months ago. Are there any groups or resources you recommend in the DC metro area. I'm in northern Virginia. Thanks.

Rumors or not, I'm not in a field where we have the time to wait around for apple to fix a computer... so I don't have the liberty of taking that chance... if it doesn't seem to be too much of a problem guess I'll go for it and keep my other mac and pc as backups just in case...
