Can I remotely wipe/brick/erase my iphone?

My phone was lost/stolen and I'm sure everyone here understands that the contents on the phone are very valuable to me. I know someone has my phone because they sent an e-mail of a youtube URL from my e-mail address which got kicked back to me because the address the e-mail was sent to was wrong (I think it's a young kid because the youtube was a cartoon show, but I digress...)

On to my question - can I remotely wipe off all of my pictures, notes, phone numbers etc?? I have the first generation 16 gig so unfortunately no Microsoft Exchange or fancy 3G. Please someone help. I totally sound desperate but I am at this point 😟

Enterprise customers?

I've already called ATT and reported the phone lost/stolen and it's been deactivated since last night. I'm curious why I got that e-mail kicked back to me at 9:57PM tonight.

I don't think the police care about my cellphone as they've probably got bigger fish to fry so I'm not even going to bother 😟

Thank you for your suggestions!

An iPhone can be remotely wiped with an Exchange account from the Exchange Server for the account only.

The iPhone includes a passcode lock feature that prevents someone from accessing your iPhone if lost or stolen or without your permission. Beginning with firmware 2.0, the passcode lock feature includes an option to erase all data on the iPhone after 10 failed passcode attempts, which must be turned on.

Apparently you weren't using the passcode lock feature if the person that stole or found your iPhone sent an email with your email account, and this person is able to access everything else on your iPhone also.

If you haven't already done so, you need to change the password for your email account that you were accessing with the iPhone's mail client, and if you were accessing multiple email accounts with the iPhone's mail client, you need to do the same for each email account.

Other than this, there is nothing else you can do at this point.

And if you are in the U.S., you did call AT&T to report your iPhone as lost or stolen?

No - this is available to those accessing an Exchange account with the iPhone's mail client via ActiveSync which can be done from the Exchange Server for the Exchange account only.

As already provided, the iPhone includes a Passcode Lock feature and beginning with firmware version 2.0, there is also an Erase Data option included with the Passcode Lock feature. With Passcode Lock enabled along with the Erase Data option, an iPhone will be completely erased after 10 failed passcode attempts.

This is your only option unless you are accessing an Exchange Account via ActiveSync with the iPhone's mail client.
