Loose Connection Headphone Jack MacBook

I was having difficulty with 3 pairs of headphones that I own. Upon insertion into the MacBook aluminum headphone jack, I would only get a very loose connection. A slight wiggle would disconnect headphone sound and revert to internal speakers.

I went to the Apple store today in Toronto, and tested a few of their units on display. Same thing User uploaded file I even tested using the headphones sold at the store (BOSE noise canceling - $249.00). Same problem. Just pulling out ever so slightly, ruined the connection...

Anyone else had this problem?? I'm totally surprised there's not more about this out there...

Hey man if you get a sec am curious to know if you ever got a fix to the headphone jack problem??

Did the new logic board do the trick?

Don't forget, there are products like this. Essentially it's an adapter from the 4 conductor (loose) digital/analog combo connector to a standard 3-conductor stereo jack.

I got this same problem too.

The slightest touch and the sound changes to the speakers. Very annoying.
I bought my Macbook 13" Alu late 2008, and got this problem from the first day, today i was seeing a movie with my headphones and it really ****** me off.
Going to call the Tech Support of Apple here in Portugal, and complain about the incident.

Meanwhile just ordered one of those ifrogz adapters.

Yeah - "Me too." At first I neglected noticing it, after all, this laptop cost me over one and a half thousand pounds, everything's surely going to be top quality, I thought. Sadly not, I run audio out of the built-in output jack a lot of the time so the problem gradually became obvious. At first I thought it was my cheap lead, however after upgrading to a decent quality cable the issue is still there. The slightest touch and my internal speakers begin to blare out. Still, it looks like the people at the Apple store recognise the problem so that's a relief- good job I got Applecare! The nearest Apple store is nearly 2 hours drive away but I guess I have little choice if I want it sorted. So, just wanted to post that this problem certainly affects some 15" Pro's too.
Cheers.

Aluminum Macbook, February '09, same problem. I won't go on to say all the exact same things as everyone else -but- I'm now out of warranty. The nearest Apple Store is a long drive from my current location. Is it worth it for me to bring my machine in, or will it be a waste of time ending in them telling me i can pay however much money to replace the guts of my machine... most likely a high % of the original cost..

I have the same problem with my Macbook Pro. I have Apple earbuds, as well as a pair of Altec Lansing speakers with a standard Audio In cord, both of which i plug into my macbook on a regular basis. I didn't have this problem until a while ago, I had the speakers connected to my computer, and I tripped over the cord and it's been loose ever since. It's quite annoying that every time i listen to music and move my computer a little, the sound cuts out and goes back to my built in speakers. Does anyone know if Apple will repair this for me, and for how much?
