Loose Connection Headphone Jack MacBook

I was having difficulty with 3 pairs of headphones that I own. Upon insertion into the MacBook aluminum headphone jack, I would only get a very loose connection. A slight wiggle would disconnect headphone sound and revert to internal speakers.

I went to the Apple store today in Toronto, and tested a few of their units on display. Same thing

I even tested using the headphones sold at the store (BOSE noise canceling - $249.00). Same problem. Just pulling out ever so slightly, ruined the connection...

Anyone else had this problem?? I'm totally surprised there's not more about this out there...

For the record, the same problem exists on the old G5 towers. This is not a new issue...

I can also corroborate the foil solution – works well for me too. Still not ideal though!

Hi there, got the same problem on my MBpro 15" , still loose connector after purchase of the iPhone adaptor (4 contacts->same s*) , get my logicboard replaced next week, we´ll see ....

whatboutthis: the foil is working for me. i can jiggle the plug as much as i want and the connection stays solid. thanks!

Hey man if you get a sec am curious to know if you ever got a fix to the headphone jack problem??

Did the new logic board do the trick?

Same problem here. I thought this is an isolated issue, but now realized it may be widespread. This should be a recall issue. I wonder if Apple is working on a resolution.

...change of logicboard did it, jack works now with all my headphones and the "4pin" adapter also...

The best solution to this is the aluminium foil trick posted earlier. It really doesn't involve any skill and the result is a tight fit as you would normally expect.

I also have it on my macbook pro 15", so I think it's a widespread problem.
