Highlighting Text in Textedit.

Is it possible to somehow set a keyboard shortcut to highlight (or even change the colour of) text in textedit?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

You mean other than the normal selection and menu items, e.g. command-shift-C? What are you trying to do?

Right, basically like that, except I want it to choose the colour automatically. I do it frequently and it gets tedious and time consuming after a while.
