iTunes 8.0.2 Upgrade Trouble

Installed the iTunes 8.0.2 upgrade. The dock icon and command-tab-to-see-what's-running move both indicate the program is "running" ... but no window, no access to local music or the store.

Then iTunes will NOT Force Quit. I rebooted and then repaired permissions and verified Macintosh HD.

Same iTunes behavior. Ideas anyone? (I've never had such an immediate "I wish I'd never done this" with any Mac software upgrade before.)

Called tech support. Hours later still itunes, store still causes lock up.
Ordered an external hard drive. Next week going to reload OSX. I should have gotten an external drive months ago anyway but I'm beginning to think it may just be easier to shop at another store besides iTunes and forget the whole issue. Tech support thinks it is something I downloaded that is forbidding me from browsing around in the store.

Let me join in here. I went to iTunes 8.0.2 and now when I try to update podcasts to which I'm already subscribed, it's routinely locking up my entire computer.

Here's what happens - I click the refresh button, and it starts to download the podcasts. Then, it suddenly freezes, so that the activity circle in the left hand of the screen freezes, I get the spinning color wheel, I can't force quit, and the clock on my computer isn't even moving anymore - the entire computer is locking up and I have to power it down and restart manually.

Any ideas? This never happened to me with iTunes before, and I've been using this computer since 2004 and listening to Podcasts heavily since 2006.

I upgraded to 8.02 last week and now when I try to open iTunes, the screen is a jumble of lines. Also, the podcasts are not downloading. Right after the upgrade, I tried to download 5 songs to my iPod - can't find them anywhere although they show up in the music library, they don't seem to live in my iPod. the only way I can get a normal iPod opening screen is when I repair permissions & reboot. Can I go back to my previous version of iTunes (8.0)? This is such a hassle.

Wish I'd never upgraded! There's truth to "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" ...

I want to say my G-5 has the same start of trouble after an upgrade, back in August or sept.
I get a blue screen then a planet and it turns for it seems 5 minutes then the fan starts to whir loudly and the icon on the screen turns to a little folder, then after at least 2 more minutes my desktop comes up.
It's strange. and just the other day I updated my itunes and now my CD's won't play.
I'm really frustrated with this leopard and it's updates.
I'm tempted to put the 'ole panther back on.

Ever since we put version 8 on my computer it will not open. It tries to open, the hour glass comes up for a few seconds but no iTunes. It's open in the processes menu of the task manager and if I try to shut down it will tell me iTunes is still running and that it's shutting it down. I have searched the forums and have tried many things but nothing works. This version obviously has problems because so many people have report similar problems. Some one please help, you spend hundreds on an ipod and then you can't use it because the program has problem. Very frustrated and annoyed. Have uninstalled and reinstalled many times, Qicktime works just fine as well. Someone please help.

I posted an issue about iTunes and still have not received any resolution to the problem. I searched to see how many others are having problems and it is HUGE. Since I installed iTunes upgrade I cannot get the iTunes window. I can get the window mini player, but it is greyed out.

I posted this and I received one person telling me to disable Genius feature, I did that and also reinstalled the application. No change.

I haven't installed any new software since the iTunes 8.0.2 that was when I started having problems. Having reinstalled it made no difference. I even tried throwing away a preference file for Genius and extras-no luck.

Is anyone getting any help on this subject? It seems to me that iTunes 8.0.2 is a lemon!! I am a 20 year owner of Apple products and have never had a problem ever like this with any Apple software.
