If you are talking about the After Effects demo video it plays fine on my Intel iMac, OS X 10.5.6, Safari Version 3.2.1 (5525.27.1),and Flash 10.0 r12 (no .36 on my plugin) so a script problem is not likely. Perhaps some other conflict or Flash itself?
Well I have the opposite effect here - the video plays fine on my MBP, yet not on my Intel iMac. On the iMac the video panel never appears. Rather tells me it needs Flash.
Safari is the same on both systems (or at least that's what I think). No plugin blocks are present. To test if the Preference files might be causing the problem, On the iMac, I moved to the desktop from the Macromedia folder in ~/Library/Preferences folder the folder inside the SharedObjects folder. Restarted the system/Safari but the video still does not play.
In the past, Layers magazine has not been a problem, however, I haven't viewed one for several months. Given what others have posted, there seems to be an oddity here that is not machine or Safari specific. I'll have to investigate more when I have time tomorrow.
Try the Video from another user account. See if this is system-wide, or just specific to your user account. BTW, video played fine on the iMac in Firefox.
After I thought this through, I looked at the Internet Plugins installed on my MacBook Pro vs the iMac. Surprised to see they aren't the same after all!
First, I moved all plug-ins from the /Library/Internet Plugins folder to a folder on my desktop except those installed on both machines, including Flash. Video played! Trial and error, and a bit of instinct found the culprit -
WacomSafari.plugin. When I moved that plugin back to its original location, video no longer played. I'm going to contact Wacom about the incompatibility.
If you are not using a Wacom Tablet, perhaps another plugin within that folder is the culprit. I suggest using the trial/error method.
That is a preemptive plug-in for applications that currently don’t exist. In other words, a couple years back, some companies showed interest in creating website that supported drawing while chatting… sort of like messenger, with a doodle window I guess. Some of those companies thought that it would be nice if the Flash-based doodle windows would support pen pressure and so we created that plug-in. Since then, no company has come forth and made any official site. Some have tried and are no longer available and some just never came to fruition. We are not removing it in case someone out there really does do some full-scale implementation of such an idea. On the PC, or Internet Explorer side we created a .DLL file that does the same thing, and behaves the same way randomly as well. Deleting the file and/or moving it is just fine and hurts nothing. I hope this helps out some. take care,
Hello hawaiian_Starman I tried several things suggested by you and still no luck. I runned the disk utility application and re-started my laptop. then I checked for the internet plug-ins folder and I have "Move-Media-player.pluggin
oh by the way the results of the disk utility repair are:
Repairing permissions for “Machintosh HD ”
Reading permissions database.
Reading the permissions database can take several minutes.
