Camera not working, black screen

Hi,

when i use my camera, all i get is a black screen, and the camera button is not active. The aperture shutter comes up when i activate the camera, but when i open it, the screen is black, and the button is non responsive. Everything else on the phone works fine, and the camera did initially, I only noticed the problem this evening. Anyone got any ideas?

I've done both a reset and a restore by the way, didn't make any difference.

Hi all.

Just updated my iPhone 3G (16GB) to OS 3.0 today. When trying out the camera, the application would open but the animated aperture on the screen wouldn't open and the camera shutter button on the screen was grayed out. A forced reboot (Power+Home until Apple logo) had no effect. A clean reboot (hold Power until red slider appears and slide to turn off, then turn back on) also had no effect. I restored the iPhone to a clean OS 3.0 install plus backed-up settings. Camera live view appeared the first time I opened the Camera app, but had distortion lines flickering in the live view image and most photos taken were either all green or had those lines in them. After immediately closing the app and re-opening it, the aperture screen wouldn't open to the live view any longer. I tried a restore to 2.2.1, but iTunes wouldn't let me downgrade to 2.2.1. I then restored to 3.0 again but not restoring backed-up settings. The same thing happened. Camera worked once with visual flaws. but then wouldn't after that. I think it's time I take it to the Apple Store. Good luck all!
