IPOD Touch Applications Not Working

Hi There

I recently updated my Ipod Touch software to version 2.2. I then downloaded a few applications for the Itunes Store and synced my Ipod.

However when I try to open the applications they load for a few seconds and return to the main screen.

What should I do?

Thank you

Regards

I purchased the Ipod Touch and spent a few hours organizing and downloading applications. I was impressed.

Now all of the applications will no longer launch. They start and then immediately close. I have tried resets, deletes, re-syncing, hard resets. I'm really disappointed with the Touch. The applications are great until they no longer work. This is on a 32GB 3rd generation touch with all of the latest updates.

Still looking for answers, but definitely frustrated on such an expensive paper weight.

Hello all.

I was having this same issue. I had tried EVERYTHING this forum suggested but had no luck. I was just messing around with different things and figured out a fix. This is how to fix this issue:

1) Restore your iPod to factory settings. You can do this by opening up your iPod in iTunes and hit restore. If you have issues, use this page for help: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275

2) DO NOT restore from backup! Do it as a new device! If you do from backup, you are just installing all the bad things again. Doing it as a new device gives you a clean slate to work from. You basically get a NEW iPod. Set up your iPod as you did when you first got it. When it asks what you want to sync, DO NOT CHECK APPLICATIONS!

3) Go to the applications tab in your device page and make sure that it is not set to automatically sync applications. DO NOT SYNC YOUR APPLICATIONS! I did not have the issue until I synced the apps, so unless you need to for some reason, NEVER sync your apps.

4) Re-download your Apps from the App store on your iPod. You will not have to pay for any that you have already bought. After this you should not have this problem.

Hope this helps!

alot of people have said syncing they're ipod has caused the problem but in my case it fixed it. The ipods brand spanking new and before i even connected it to a computer i downloaded a few apps and they wouldn't work they would shut off in a split second. I updated to the newest software and i tried everything. So since its a new ipod i only had one 3rd party app, so i downloaded it from the app store on my computer and on my ipod then i synced my apps it updated the app and now it works.
This is my second touch and my old one only did this a few times and simply fixed when i redownloaded the apps.

I experienced this same issue when I first got my 2nd gen Touch, and the only thing that seemed to fix it was delete then reinstall an app (any app, as I recall). However, I started noticing it happening more when there were pending updates to one or more apps. Once I started being more diligent about keeping all apps up to date, the issue seemed to go away (at least for now).

Same boat just got Ipod touch recently at first only downloaded 3 apps (Facebook, geared and lumines) worked just fine at the time. Then sat down a few days later to go through full registration process of new ipod and downloaded a few more apps and that when I had the issue. First it was just the new ones I downloaded that had it, then a few hours later none of the apps would work save for the ones that came standard on the ipod. I have tried every reset of settings or clearing ipod completely, reinstalling one or all apps. Even just having only a single app that used to work on system doesnt work. Redownloading/reinstalling from Itunes on comp or from app store on the Touch itself doesnt work.

Just wanted to say I am having the same problem as the posters above me. Just got a brand new 3rd gen ipod touch yesterday, worked great last night and earlier today. Then tonight nothing would load. Reset the ipod, reset the settings, deleted and re-downloaded everything, but still none of the downloaded apps will work, just launch and crash to home screen a split second later.

This happened 2 me and my kids 2 friggin hours after we bought it today. We tried a million things. 3 hours later this worked:

(Make sure you have your purchased apps on ITunes on your PC as backup)

1. Delete the non factory installed apps from your IPOD

2. Restore to Factory Settings

3. Install AS NEW IPOD

4. Sync apps installed on ITunes already on your PC (you will have to reauthorize the pc)

5. Pray...It will reboot and should work

PS. I think the cause was upgrading the IPOD software (I said yes) and right after that the app windows started kicking me back to home screen. I will say no to IPOD upgrade prompts from now on...I think there is a bug in upgrade.

*If this happens again within a month I will bring it back and go nuts for them to swap it out.

GOOD LUCK! Let us know how it goes...

hi all, first post on this board.

i just bought a 64gb touch on monday -- my first ipod ever. anyway, i just had the same exact problem that you've all been complaining about.

i posted about it on another board on which i'm a member, and someone gave me a much quicker (and a successful) solution than deleting everything and starting over.

he said to _*go download any random free app from the app store, and then run it (i personally downloaded some random alarm clock app). then exit out of the new app you downloaded and then all your old apps (the ones that aren't working right now) will work._* and BINGO! it worked.

the guy who gave me that solution said he has that problem from time to time on his iPhone, but he always assumed that it was because he had dropped his phone so many times. well, my touch is brand new, never dropped, so clearly it's a bug (also, the fact that all of you have the same problem indicates that it's a bug as well).

anyway, hope that helps. this is definitely a bug that apple needs to address.

EDIT: to clarify, i downloaded the new (random, free) app directly to the touch from the app store.

Its a bug and it seems that apple doesn't bother.
I had the same problem and i tried everything like deleting and reinstalling the apps, resetting etc but to no avail. Finally i followed the following stpes and it worked:
1. uncheck the Sync Application under itunes.
2. Sync your ipod.
3. Delete all the apps from itunes as well as PC.
4. Redownload the apps through itunes
5. check the sync apps again
6. Sync
7. Done!!!

I'm not sure whether it will work for all? But it worked for me and I'll think thousand time before getting another one from itunes store.
