I have also had similar problems to yours. I was able to resolve all issues by letting the iPod itself do a total reset of factory settings. Plug the iPod in to an AC outlet. Go to "Settings-General-Reset-Erase All Content and Settings". It will ask you to confirm your actions twice. Find a good book, very long movie, or take a nap for about four hours. When it has finished, you will need to set up the iPod as a NEW unit in iTunes. DO NOT restore from a backup as there is no way to tell if the corrupted files were system or data related. I also had deleted all apps from iTunes and re-downloaded them before rebuilding the iPod. This fixed the crashing app problem without having to jump through a dozen other hoops. E-mail me if you need help.
if the computer you're using is already authorized for you account, I would NOT recommend trying to authorize it again. it didn't help and now i can't authorize any more computers, because this one is authorized twice.
weird that I never have such problems ever that you guys have. Here's some short suggestions:
1) use software update and update everything on your Mac.
2) possibly reset your iPod touch into factory default.
3) check that your apps "really" work and "capable" to be working on iPod touch. (some only works on iPhone)
4) check if you ever "jailbreak" your iPod touch. If you do, the chance are very low to fix everything.
5) check if your iPod touch is "too full" in memory or not. (like computer, too full of memory used mean fewer memory and CPU left to do other things)
6) check if you have 3.0 software for iPod touch. (some apps only work correctly with 3.0 software)
7) EVERY single time you downloaded new app(s) into iPod touch, ALWAYS reset it first before doing anything else. (hold "lock" button on the top, duh!)
I did a full reset and erase and ended up with an endless reset. I had to put it in restore node and am still downloading the software. Apple, get this fixed!
I have tried everything and absolutely nothing works. I have erased applications and then restored them, I have reset my ipod, I have downloaded applications from both the itunes stores and synced then from my computer, I have authorized and deauthorized my computer and nothing WORKS. Ok I take that back, one application works now. The rest still doesn't work. I am very frustrated with my ipod touch. I use my ipod EVERYDAY, and to experience this problem is very disappointing for me. I need a fix that works.
I have to agree. VERY frustrating! i use my iPod everyday too. and i have tried EVERYTHING that has been suggested and nothing works. erasing it and starting over as a new ipod worked for maybe a day, then it went back to not working again. its not the software updates either. ive had mine updated for months and it worked up until recently. two days ago to be exact. i just dont know what to do and i know that i cant possibly afford a new one.
Is there anyone from Apple reading this and providing solutions? I've seen the same problem going back to 2008. My touch doesn't respond to any suggested work arounds for this app problem. Its making that support commercial they're running look ridiculous.
Nothing! No answer. 16000 posts to this topic alone. What's the point of this if no one with with any real solutions or insight actually posts? Feeling suckered....HELLO, APPLE! ARE YOU THERE! I still have time to return all this.
I take it back. Another forum under similar title has 23000 posts approx. 40000 in total. Sounds like ground for a lawsuit since they market it as one of the key features of the product and it clearly doesn't work.
if you have apps you downloaded with your ipod and not through itunes on your computer, plug your ipod to your computer, open itunes, click your device. click the applications tab and select sync applications. then click on one of your library things like music or movies and the apps will be put on your computer. whats happening is when you download something with the ipod and then sync the computer doesnt have anything to sync but the icon stays on the ipod homescreen.
