Problems connecting with all FTP clients

I'm having problems connecting to FTP servers using any FTP client on my Mac. Currently, I'm running Panic's Trasmit, but I've also attempted with Fetch.

Both generate the same problem. I began troubleshooting with my ISP and then with my webhost. Neither can find any problem. Additionally, the problem happens across a wide range of web hosts.

Here's what happens. Whenever I connect via FTP, the connection is accepted. When the FTP client attempts to download a list of the files, it stalls and I get a message stating that the "Connection timed out or server hung up."

Sometimes I am able to connect to the FTP site and begin an upload/download. However, it inevitably stalls out sooner rather than later.

When I connect using a friend's PC through the same Airport Express, the connection runs fine.

I'm at my wits end! I've done a search in multiple forums, but here's a link to an earlier Apple discussion that seems to be similar:

Does anyone have any clue what could be going on???

iMac G5 2Ghz, Mac OS X (10.4.1), Transmit 3.6.7, Fetch

Using Terminal to FTP does pretty much the same thing. The server will let me connect, but when I run 'ls' it retrieves a partial list and then times out.

I've gone through the logs for clues and here's what I get consistently. Let me know if there are specific log files I should be checking or any idea of what clues to look for.

Most consistent error first followed by a couple of others:

This is probably the most comprehensive error that I've found. It's pasted in it's entirety with before and after errors as well.

Hmmm, I have none of your problems, but going to ftp.manifestbozeman.com

I get only a pub folder that is empty, fwiw.

Hmmm, the 172. addy is your Private IP, 216. is the Public one from ISC Distributors ISCD.

No wonder... FTP Error: I won't open a connection to 172.16.56.105 (only to 216.166.168.55), and seems to explain "CFURLGetFSRef failed", which is as I understand it, something like (output?) directory doesn't exist.

Now to ponder this...
