Screen dims after unplugging

10.5.5 new Macbook Pro

When i unplug my charger, my screen dims, if i plug it back in again, it jumps quite a lot in brightness.

Any clues anyone?

Its supposed to do that for energy saving purposes. Go to system prefrences>energy save>"settings for" pull down menu (Battery)>uncheck "slightly dim display"
