MSN messenger 7.0.1 for mac, problems ( don't know where to post, sorry!)

Hi everyone, thanks for helping

I am using the white 2.4 macbook and I downloaded the msn messenger 7.0.1.

I discovered that sometimes, when I talk to people ( so far talked to people using windows only), I cannot receive what they say, and I need to log in using a pc to say what they say, sometimes.

Why is this happening? any clue?

This is not a Mac problem. It's a known issue (although not recognized by Microsoft), it's just a flaw on the Windows Live network. it happens on the Windows client too time to time. The exact reasons are unknown.

There could be many factors. It could be a firewalling issue, just the protocol's design, or simply the fact that there's lost packets along the transit.

Sometimes, you just have to wait it out.

I know it's annoying because it happens sometimes to me too.

I don't think Adium really makes a difference because I have used third party messengers on Linux and notice this problem from time to time (although it's not constant even on Mac and Windows). You can give it a try. I personally don't use Adium because I just don't like it and it's a personal preference.

Adium is a messenger based on the Pidgin messenger which was primarily written for Linux and other UNIX-like operating system. It originally only supported AIM before it started to support other protocols like MSN, Yahoo, Jabber and etc. They even have a Facebook Chat support built into the messenger now.

lol, Mercury Messenger is a Windows Live compatible messenger written in Java. It's not bad, the only complaint for me is that it's a little too slow for my liking, but that might be because Java was never good when it comes to speed.

I don't quite remember, you'll have to try yourself ... AIM is supported and built into iChat. As for ICQ, you'll have to check.
