109°C (228°F) CPU temperature, fans idle @ 2k rpm!!!!!! I'M SO MAD

this is a issue since the new MBPs were released. as soon as the CPU temp reaches ~55°C the fans start slowly from 2000 to 6200rpm if the CPU is on maximum usage. this is absolutely ok. BUT, if you put your MBP to sleep, log out or change the GPU, something happens to the fan control! the next time you maxing out your CPU power, the CPU heats up to 109°C and the fans keep running at 2000rpm User uploaded file if you reset your smc everything is fine until you put your MBP to sleep (...) again. seriously, what is this apple? this is so so unbelievably pathetic!
the newest "placebo smc update" didn't change anything! it changed not even one thing what it promised, LOL! stop messing around apple and do* something!

"I think all MBP's are affected by this"

Mine's not. Sorry you're having this problem, but your statement is totally unsupported and simply not true. It seems several do have some problems with fans though. But that's a small minority compared to the total MBP population.

You need to take it back to Apple, 109C is ridiculous and should not be happening.
Let me add the stupid question of is the bottom of your MBP feel like it could fry an egg? If it's not really hot, then perhaps there is a sensor or sensor software problem?

I've been watching this topic all year, made use of Fan Control to keep me happy. Thanks!

I have an original MBP Unibody, late 2008

I had the same problem -- fans stuck at 2k rpm at heavy loading if wake from sleep, but fresh boot ok.

I did a clean install of Snow Leopard and haven't seen the issue since... hope others are finding a similar resolution.

I had this problem with my 15" MBP (the original unibody with shorter battery), and after complaining to Apple about how it burned both my leg and my leather chair, and sending it to them about 2 or 3 times for fixing and still no luck, they replaced it with a brand new one (with the newer battery too) for free, custom-configured to match the stats of my MBP. They allowed me to upgrade my MBP with any specs I wanted, so I took advantage of the situation and upgraded to the 17" with 3.06 GHz and a 256GB SSD. All I had to do was pay the difference!
