Inline attachments sent to MS Outlook messes up message layout

Hi - I've noticed when sending an email from Mail to MS Outlook with an attachment inline the message gets broken into multiple pieces. In Outlook the message body shows only the text above the attachment, the attachment is showing not inline but in the header part of the message and the rest of the body (the part below the attachment) shows up as another attachment with a cryptic name like ATTxxxxxxx.htm.

I tried sending the attachment Windows friendly and not Windows friendly - no difference.

Why is this happening?

Cheers
Michael

Hmm - thanks both for your efforts and comments. I'm not sure whether Gmail plays a role here as I get the same result whether I send a message from my Mail app using my Gmail, Demon, or GMX account. I tend to believe that the server is the main culprit here. I do receive many message with inline attachments where they should be - all from messages composed in Outlook from my colleagues or customers. It's only when I send myself a message from home that I get the problem. Probably some "feature" that Bill put in to make the world stick with MS.

Cheers
Michael
