10.5.6 hangs on installation

My MB is hanging on install of the 10.5.6 update at the "Configuring Setup" stage. Tried multiple times.

Will try the 372MB support install.

What is the combo install?

+1 for hang on installation during "configuring install" on my MBP 15". Downloading combo updater to see if that makes a difference. UGH!!

+1 for the hang on install. Tried reparing disk permissions, no change. MBP 15" 2.33.

I have to say that I'm beginning to feel like Apple is moving from my "trusted" list to my "wait a few days/weeks" list.

I downloaded the upgrade from the website. On reboot the old Power Mac didn't complete the mission. It sat there for about 45 minutes with a blank screen as though in sleep mode. I finally scrammed it (held in the power button) and when my desktop reappeared the update had in fact been installed.

If you haven't any problems then maybe you could refrain from offering useless suggestions.

P.S. I have owned dozens of Apple computers since my first purchase in 1977, and I also have the OS-X 10.5.6 update problem.

Have to add that my iMac is playing up. Upgraded, and can't get past the screen where you type your password, the screen goes blue, and it cycles through a slightly different shade of blue to take me to the login screen again. Any ideas?

Just used the 372mb download at the support page and it worked.

Same problem here. Tried twice. Failed twice.

I'm currently downloading the the dmg file from apple and will try installing it that way.

Mine hangs in exactly the same place. Just wanted to add my note that it's doing so.

Hi, yes, the same exact issue happened on my MacBook when I tried to install the update. I ran it for 40 minutes just to be sure the installation would continue, which it didn't. I went ahead and pressed the power button to shut down, waited 2 minutes and restarted without any problems. Others are reporting the same thing.

Any solutions to allow the installation to continue properly?

+1 here too. My macbook pro spent 2 hours today trying to "configure the instal".

I downloaded the 378MB updater from apple and now it wants 1.2 GB to install....?
Anyone else experiencing the same thing? Thats a lot of space for an already problematic update.

Add one more. My 2.4ghz MacBookPro3,1 hung on configuring installation. I left it for over an hour while I went to lunch, and there was no progress when I got back. Shutdown and tried again, same thing.

I experienced the same problem. After the 10.5.6 automatic update, my iMac 2.8 ghz hangs on reboot. Updating from 10.5.5.

My new unibody macbook pro 2.4 ghz went through the automatic system update without any problems.

People, save yourself the heartache and always use the combo updater. Work every time.
