IPOD Mini and Itunes freezes?

Help...
When i connect my ipod, itunes comes up and the ipod show's in the source window. When it gets ready to transfer tunes the software freezes with the little spinning wheel. Cannot disconnect ipod. Have to restart system.

I too, was having the same problems. iTunes & iPod Mini would freeze during large updates either erasing all the songs on my iPod Mini or causing some songs to not play and be skipped over. It dawned on me when people where stating that switching to Firewire/USB or vice versa seemed to solve the problem, that maybe this was a parameter ram issue. After resetting the parameter ram on my PowerBook G4, all updates worked flawlessly with the Mini. Something must be causing these problems, but this seemed to be a quick fix to get it working.

To reset parameter ram, simply restart and hold OPTION, COMMAND, R, P during boot.

Hope this fixes your problems as well.

I solved my freeze problems by replacing my USB cable with a new firewire cable (and then replacing the firewire cable with another firewire cable--the first FW cable was dicey, I guess). Anyhow, that fixed my freezing problems. SInce moving to Tiger (10.4.2) everything remains stable. Hope that helps.
