Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter creates jumpy mouse cursor

I just got the new Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter. It works fine visually on my 30 inch Cinema HD display, but now my mouse cursor is jumpy. Every few seconds as I drag my mouse, the cursor jumps 5-10 inches, making it hard and frustrating to use.

I tried swapping out mice (external Microsoft USB mouse, both wired and wireless), downloading a new mouse driver, turning off airport, resetting parameter ram, and powering the cable via a USB port other than the computer, but the problem persists. I don't see this when the computer is plugged into a 24 inch monitor. So either it's the cable or the computer trying to drive 2560x1600.

Yes, I'm having crashing/freezing problems as well.

I have a late-2008 MBP connected to a 30" ACD with the dual-link DVI adapter.

The MBP was stable and happy for two months before connecting the 30" ACD.

Now I have colored streaks and flashes over black areas of the display, mouse cursor jumpiness, and the MBP is freezing a couple of times per day.

Interestingly, the dp events (and cursor jumping) came back the moment I launched an HD movie in Quicktime (I tried the Ice Age trailer others were having frame rate problems with). The movie will now play at 24 fps, but the jerky mouse and dp events return until you quit Quicktime.

Even having Quicktime open with nothing playing will make the cursor jump and dp events return. Seems this was only a partial fix...

sadly nothing is fixed with this update. when changing the graphics card to "high performance" an external apple 30" monitor display is not even recognised. when changing back to "better battery life" the display is recognized sometimes but only renders highly distorted images. tested with two current macbook pros 15" 2.8ghz and two different mini display port to dual link dvi adapters on two different 30" apple cinema displays. apple should recall this adapters!
i already got the adapter replaced two times and also tried various other adapters in the apple store. all are not working!

je, i confirm this too. the messages and the heavy lag appear only while qt or itunes are running.

the nvidia update did help to a degree, but i find the cursor still isn't running as smooth as with the adapter (and the 30" cd) detatched.. well maybe that's just me.

anyway, i hope apple will take another look at this, it really disturbs the experience :/

Looks like the update is pulled out. It is not showing up in my Software Update and also the original link is now taken down:

http://support.apple.com/downloads/NVIDIAGraphics_Update2009

Can still find it at:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/firmware_hardware/nvidiagraphicsupda te2009.html

I am getting really annoyed by the secrecy Apple has. This is NOT an acceptable customer service. They put an update that half works and then later on silently take it down. No explanations, no warnings, nothing... So should I just use the above link and download the update anyways??? Is there another one coming?? Are they working on the fix???

What is going on????
