periodic Dual-link display problem with new adapter

I don't yet know what conditions cause it but I'll be working with my MacBook Pro connected to my 30" display when the screen "shifts" and then becomes practically unreadable. I have to disconnect the adapter and reattach it. The photos below show a detail of the problem and then how it looks after reconnecting the adapter.

Here are two movies showing the problem.

I have the same periodic problem with my dual-link display adapter used between a new Mac Mini and the Apple Cinema 30" HD display. Every 15 minutes or so it drops the display for 1/2 sec and goes black or it gets completely fuzzy and then snaps back. No issue ever encountered between a Macbook Pro and the 30" display with the standard connection.
Now with Snow leopard it can "hang" in this fuzzed state and require shutdown and rebooting, so the issue is getting worse not better. I love Apple products but this issue should be taken seriously by Apple and solved!!!!

Reading that snow leopard + firmware 1.0.2 might actually (finally) solve this problem, I called Apple to try and get my old one swapped. They of course didn't know anything about this problem supposedly. Also, weren't willing to ship a new adapter, since they weren't sure what firmware was on it. I didn't want to get a refurb with the old firmware, so now it's to an Apple store to swap it. Lame.

This is a first test of the adaptor with a confirmed 1.01 frimware and snow leopard. At first it was fine. Then I logged in again to use the superior graphic chip. It then failed as expected. However I could not read an automatic update which I went ahead and installed. I then logged in again. And for now it seems fine. I am not confident that all is fine since I have had this problem since early December last year and have not been able to use this machine. If all goes well over an extended time I will report.

One very weird thing I just noticed. I went to about this mac and checked the graphic/ displays. Now I see on my 30" Dell this:
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M:

Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
Type: GPU
Bus: PCI
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
Device ID: 0x0863
Revision ID: 0x00b1
ROM Revision: 3343
gMux Version: 1.7.3
Displays:
Display Connector:
Status: No Display Connected
Display Connector:
Status: No Display Connected

Obviously I am connected and I am using the adaptor as I type and read on my large monitor. Weird!!!

I had hoped the problems were solved. But as usual since I bought this machine in December of '08 its a clunker. Of course after about an hour the bad and the ugly reared it's Steve Jobs head with fuzzy snow the whole bit. So no; Snow Leopard does not work with the adaptor firmware 1.01. What I hate is now to get apple to give me the proper firmware. I have paid for the computer and adaptor. But the problem has been going for 9 months and the last ( second) adaptor was sent to me some 6 -7 months ago and has sat unused. What is the bet they will not make this easy for me?

What's even more depressing, I've open a bug report on this in February with Leopard, it didn't even get acknowledged in 8 months. Now I've opened one for Snow Leopard.

I think I am going to call Apple Care this weekend and see what my options are from them, since I absolutely hate dealing with the Genius Bar. I don't feel like spending my Saturday afternoon trying to PROVE my problem to a genius bar idiot.
