Verizon USB727 USB Modem

I am running OS 10.3.9 on a Mac G5. I just purchased a Verizon USB727 USB Modem. Their info says it is compatible with this OS. I have tried to get the Network configured for it without success. Verizon Tech Support talked me through all of it, but we ran into a brick wall trying to figure out what modem driver to use. Verizon documentation says use the "generic" driver. Which one would that be. If anyone has been this route before and has the answer I would appreciate the assistance.

Yes! I had that too. An OS 10.4.11 quirk? I would hit the return button to get out of the dialog, then quickly used the mouse to get to the Location, then edited as you did. Sorry I left that out, I think I was assuming it wouldn't happen to anyone else.

If anyone has a fix for the Repeating Dialog, please post...

So glad you now have your wireless broadband and printer(s) working together. Once you have your settings figured out, they should hold.

I'm running 10.4.12--just got my verizon acct and novatel usb727 modem yesterday...

Fortunately for me, the verizon woman has a mac...As for the repeating dialogue box (for me it was "another app has changed your network prefs"), once I had a new location set, i think this stopped (it was late, late last night).
The main thing is, you need to install the VZaccessmonitor to get the right drivers, but after that you can connect through Internet Connect, as if it twere a regular modem. If you open internet connect, or the system prefs while configuring and setting up initially with the VZaccessmonitor, it will cause the repeating dialogues. I had to uninstall, make sure not to open system prefs while the VZ install ran, and then reboot--and the install had produced a new location for me.

Maybe that'll help, maybe not. VZ woman told me that after the first installation, you can delete the VZaccess app if you want (but don't uninstall, as it will del drivers)--but in the boonies where I live, it's nice to use the signal strength meters on the Verizon app...

My question was about whether or not these modems can be hooked up to a powered hub and work...
