I recently switched from a PC to an iMac and I miss the mindless hours I used to spend playing Solitaire. I've downloaded a Widget Solitaire from the Apple site, but it's kind of anemic compared to my old Windows version. There are many different Solitaire files here to be downloaded, but I really hate to junk up my new machine installing multiple games just to find the perfect Windows clone. Aside from downloading and trying different versions, does anyone know of one that is comparable to the Windows standard version (like...identical)? Or, better yet, would it hurt my Mac to drag and copy the old Windows sol.exe file I've saved on my external drive over to the Mac? Is that file compatible with a Mac?
Sorry if this is a stupid question - I just don't want to do anything that will mess up my beautiful new Mac. 🙂
If you want to run Windows programs you need to run Windows on your Mac. If it's an Intel based Mac, you can do that with VMware Fusion, Bootcamp, or Parallels. I like VMware Fusion for its flexibility and the different guest OS's it supports.

You might want to try Allgood Solitaire, I have been using it for years as my replacement for Windows Solitaire & Free Cell, not to mention Spider and a number of other Solitaire games. Klondike with 1 or 3 cards is pretty much what you're looking for as a replacement.
As was said in the previous post you would need to run Windows on your Mac via 1 of the 3 methods mentioned. If Solitaire is your only missing Windows need going that route would be way overkill.
