DXG 565V not agreeing with iMovie...

Question

DXG 565V not agreeing with iMovie...

Dunno if this is the right place to post this, but...

I just received a new camcorder for Xmas, and tried connecting it to the computer. It pops up on the desktop and I can access .avf files or something along those letters, and iPhoto opens but doesn't read anything off the no-name camera. iMovie won't work with it at all. The camera claims to tape DV, but connects through a USB cable. The CD won't work with Mac. Is there anywhere I can download a mac driver for it, or should I just try and pull the files off the device in the Finder and try to convert them?

IF this is a miniDV tape cam, then there should be a firewire port on the cam and you will need to buy a 6 to 4 pin firewire cable to capture the video off the tape. USB will only allow transfer of any still photos that may be on a card in the cam. The CD is meant for PC (dark side) owners. Your Mac does not require any other drivers.

wrong info..

maybe, if you purchase iLife08 and you own an Intel Mac, you're lucky to handle those files..
