New Cinema Display Colour problems

Same problem as everyone else. I tried doing the same thing only the windowserver plist was not in my notebook so I couldn't go this route.

Lucaseve I was able to utilize your logic in my own situation and make 2 definite conclusions.

1) All BMW head gaskets leak... all of them. I mean mine did, and my friends did... so that's 2...
2) No LED 24" ACD's have a color shifting problem. Same logic... I use mine 8+ hours per day and have great eyes, so since mine doesn't do it then none of them do.

Seriously though, you can't make sweeping conclusions based on itty bitty sample sizes. To declare the MBP+24"ACD combo a failed desktop replacement system to everyone is... a bit much. Why not just offer your own observations and stop short of declaring that everyone else has the problem and just hasn't seen it yet?

However, since i adjusted the brightness down, it seems to have stopped.

I took it down one step using the dragger in System Preferences (i.e. i didn't use the keyboard controls which jump in much larger increments).

i saw this kind of stuff in apple store with one of their new displays.

Some MacBooks seemed to shift colors, white to pinkish

blue - yellow - greenish, like everyone else described

I have been experiencing this for a while now too.

Finally thought I would search around for answers on it. Glad to know Apple has heard of the problem.

Do you use yours on full brightness? You are honestly the first person I've heard from who owns this display who has not had the problem. I know of numerous people I've spoken with on different forums who have also exchange their displays up to 3 times and had the issue with each one. One guy did claim it wasn't happening on his and after I informed him it only happens running at full brightness for several hours without turning the display off he experienced it as well. If your display is working, consider yourself lucky.

Experiencing the same color shift issues. I haven't tried reducing the brightness, so that'll be my next thing to do. Still doesn't seem like we should have to do this. Apple, what's up?

I have the same problem with my LED cinema and late 2008 macbook.
However, I have reduced the brightness on the display to 80% ( I was unaware that it was at 100% ) and the problem has no longer occurred in the last week.

The brightness trick seems to have stopped working for me, which is irritating. Back to dealing with colour switching between warm and cold tones.

At what point are Apple going to acknowledge there is an issue here?

I have no decent color changing while using, but sometimes when switching from MacBook Pro screen to Apple Cinema Display the ACD has a real, real bad pink screen - I use the blue server version of the default Leopard wallpaper - "Aurora" or something like that? - and in these cases, it really looks pink like **** instead of blue. After plugging the cable and put it back, the screen looks (most of the times) normal again. I only know these two extremes. Anybody else experiences this? Hopefully no hardware defect or what do you think?

I have the sam problem, running the display with a new MacBook.

Same problem here in Sweden. I spoke to Apple today and they told me to wait i couple of weeks until the problem (hopefully) is solved and then bring my display for exchange at a Apple Service Center.

Seeing the same thing here. Took my new MBP 2.53 and LED Cinema Display out of their boxes and was seeing this issue in the *first 15 minutes*. UGH!

Same problem here, just started today, about 3 months after getting the display/4 months after getting the MacBook Pro.

When I first saw it, I shut down and reset the PRAM - no avail.

I read about deleting the windowserver.plist, but my MBP has no such thing in either Library.

I also read about taking the brightness down a notch in the System Preferences : Display Preferences and that seems to have worked.
