Age limit for iphone plan?

You mention that your parents don't want the contract tied to their name and then you suggest that they serve as co-signers. That is contradictory.
Legal age to enter into a contract is 18.
Call an Apple store or AT&T and see what they say.

If I understand your clarification, you want your parents to co-sign (or not) for the purchase of the phone and the contract (monthly statement) would be associated with your bank account. Unfortunately the contract and phone are tied to the same contract. When you purchase the phone you have to activate it with a 2 year contract. And since you have not reached the legal age to enter into a contract, you can't buy the phone, regardless of whether its your money or someone else's.

must be 18 to legally sign a contract. I don't believe they accept cosigners on a phone contract.

If they co-sign then they are responsible for paying for it if you don't.
