How to disable internet access from itouch

I just purchased a new ipod touch for my young son and don't want him to be able to access the internet. Where do I go to disable it when it is connected to the computer? And if I disable his, will MY ipod still be able to access the internet?

A simpler way is also available through the restrictions menu in the General settings of the iPod Touch. You can deactivate Safari there and it cannot be reactivated without your passcode. That way, he might be able to enjoy using the App Store and iTunes Store and anything else requiring access without being able to randomly browse the web.
