Hotmail on Ipod Touch

How do I go about setting up my Hotmail account on my Ipod Touch
Its a 16 Gb 1st gen. I have 2.0 software, having a hard time updating to 2.2

I have my Yahoo account, but need my Hotmail set up also.

i never paid for a windows live plus account. i cant remember where i found instructions, but it was sumthn like this for me:

Account Information:
Name: John Smith (note: enter your own name)
Address: example@hotmail.com (note: enter your full Hotmail email address)
Description: Hotmail

Incoming Mail Server:
Host Name: pop3.live.com
User Name: example@hotmail.com (note: enter your full Hotmail email address)
Password: password (note: enter your Hotmail password)

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
Host Name: smtp.live.com
User Name: example@hotmail.com (note: enter your full Hotmail email address)
Password: password (note: enter your Hotmail password)

Advanced Settings:
Incoming Uses SSL: On
Outgoing Uses SSL: On
Authentication: Password
Delete from Server: When removed from Inbox (or your preferred option


my folders did not sync over, but thats a detail. i now can send and recive from my ipod touch 🙂

As others have said, your Hotmail/Windows Live account is free as I didn't have to pay for mine.

You have to be connected to the internet with your iPod or you will get some wierd message like I did saying "..that you have to pay Hotmail Plus". After I connected to the internet, I simply went to Settings again and added my account through Other using: Name, Email address, Password, and the description field. It configured everything for me.
