converting analog video to digital video for use in FCE

Hi,

I have a bunch of VHS tapes that I would like to convert to digital, so that I can use them in FCE. Is there a way to do this that won't cost me a ton of money?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

You won't get any audio through to the computer until you can get video through. FCE won't capture or even recognize the audio unless a video signal is present.

For now, forget about the camcorder-to-computer and focus on the VCR-to-camcorder connections and settings. You're hearing the audio on the camcorder so that means you have to correct input set. Since the S-Video doesn't seem to be working, try a composite cable (RCA to RCA).

David,

I am able to see and hear the analog video on the LCD on my camcorder. I am also able to see the video simultaneously on the VTR in FCE. It's just that, when I go to play the captured video on FCE, I cannot hear it. When I select the clip & go to item properties, there is no audio information, so I have to assume that the clip's audio is not being captured for some reason. What I don't know is why, or how I fix this problem....any suggestions anyone?
