New Keyboard Not Working Well with Boot Camp

I just recently bought one of the flat macintosh keyboards to replace my keyboard that came with the computer. I restarted my computer and held down the option key to log onto the Windows side of my computer. It seems that the computer does not read the keyboard during this time, because I was forced to plug in my old keyboard, hold down the option key to bring up the separate hard drive icons, and then log in via that keyboard. Is there any reason why the computer doesn't read my new keyboard? Is there something I need to install perhaps?

The problem is that the keyboard does not "turn on" fast enough after restarting, thus you're holding down the option key and the keyboard hasn't turned itself on yet. It's a little absurd, I know.

I have the same problem, though. I can get it to work sometimes (my keyboard and mouse are paired just fine with both OSes) but it's never consistent. Often times I find myself hammering the buttons to try to get it to wake up quicker. Never works 100% of the time.

There are some other applications that will make this less frustrating. I'd recommend Bootpicker ( http://www.apple.com/education/it-professionals/bootpicker/).
