screen flicker resolved?

Anyone get a definitive yet on the MBP screen flicker issue?
Travel back to the Apple store or wait for update?
Got a new 2.8Ghz and when it wakes up from sleep the their is a slight flicker you notice especially on a more solid desktop image.

After several minutes it seems to reduce but is still noticeable enough to be annoying.

hi everyone!

I'm constantly have eyestrain when working on my new unibody MBP17" Antiglare (already 3rd unit (2nd replacement) - i can feel how it's flickering.

Thought my 3rd unit has no screen flickering issues at low screen's brightness settings as it was with first two units but I can see pretty much clear now how my Display flickers in certain conditions - as an example check this image:

This flickering became even more obvious when this kind of image located in the bottom part of the screen on my laptop.
You can save this image and try to open it on your Mac. Please give it a try and let us know if you can see anything.

Thanks!

there is a bit more info regarding LCD monitor technology and tests:

http://www.techmind.org/lcd/

The following test patterns deliberately excite only one polarity-half of the inversion pattern for some common schemes, and one of them should cause your screen to flicker. This is not a fault with the screen, but enables you to find out which inversion scheme your screen uses.

Opposite to deliberately created test images - the image in my example has been found/taken/adapted from web-site graphic interface ( http://www.houseofdance.net/phpBB/login.php?sid=db25a6409f689d687748fbed807ae4a5 )

I too have had the fullscreen brightness flickering. My screen also looks lightly milky sometimes, like a light blue-gray even fog, mainly when I return from screensaver.

I've needed the MBP to do work, so I haven't returned it. It's just visible enough to be annoying. It doesn't flicker that often, but it shouldn't at all! I certainly won't let my warranty end with this screen issue still occurring.

The first time I noticed it was the first time I switched to the Nvidia9400 to conserve battery. The brightness level changed and then started a subtle, fast flicker. Now it seems to happen randomly at different brightness and video card settings.

My screen isn't flickering at the moment, but it does when I view this test: http://www.csse.uwa.edu.au/~lucas/background.html
Well, at least the image in the browser flickers - not the whole screen like usual.
My 2003 Toshiba doesn't flicker when I view it there. Its screen has always looked great.

Don't even get me started on all the other issues I've had with this late 08 MBP, Pro Tools 8 003 Rack and a OWC Mercury Elite Pro drive... it's been so frustrating.

Okkkkaaaaayyyyy...
I solved my main objectionable "flicker" by going to the Energy Saver control panel, then alternating between Better Battery Life and Higher Performance. First time I did this, I had to restart. Second time, all I had to do was log out.

But, my issues disappeared.

Main problem I had was with directories that had several files, displayed in list view mode. As I would scroll, that window would flicker. Often the bottom half of just that window would distort, while the top half would be fine.

That problem has now disappeared.

What also has disappeared is the problem with the earlier messages which displayed fine-parallel-line images. I would get all sorts of blockiness and distortion when I would resize the navigator window (Firefox). That is gone.

I do have the +Commodore Amiga+ refresh flicker for just that window, though.

NOTE: I realize that I'm responding to some old messages, but I just received this computer and was looking to see if others had issues. Gosh, they sure do!
