I'm quite excited about the new Pages features but I can't seem to change the bibliography format options to anything beyond the four (annotated, author-date, numbered, show all). Any ideas? I went into Endnote X2 and the drop down list there has many other types - how do I get those to show up in Pages?
On another note I'm either still looking for or I'm going to be disappointed if I can't find cross referencing (ugh). Anyone?
You have to restart Pages and restart EndNote. I added Author-Date Custom to my Endnote list (Pages mirrors the ones that show in the EndNote toolbar list), and had to restart both programs. Once I did, all of them showed up in Edit -> Endnote Citations -> Bibliography Formats -> ...
Scott, thanks. It does work. I think I had tried quitting Pages and restarting but not EX2.
On the topic of cross-referencing - maybe an iphone app writer can come up with a hack that allows Pages to cross-reference, it seems they are capable of making the iphone do pretty much anything whether Apple wants it to or not ...
OK, another bib question. I insert a citation in Pages and it shows up in the bib. Then I change part of the reference within EX2 (author spelling or something) - how do I get Pages to update the citation and bib? Does that require restarting Pages or reloading the Pages file? Would be cool if it did it automatically but it doesn't ...
With EndNote, cross references do work. If you insert the same reference twice it only shows up once in your bibliography, the second time it'll be automatically cross referenced.
No, cross references don't have anything to do with citations. Cross references are where you refer to one part of the text (say Figure 3.12) in another part (like chapter 5). When cross references work, it doesn't matter if you insert or delete figures (in my example), the in-text reference will always adjust correctly. Pages 09 does NOT have the ability to cross reference. Mellel does. Nice! LaTeX does. Even nicer!
