Syncing Ringtones problem - in the UK

As here in the UK for some reason we are denied the facility to use a music track from iTunes as a ringtone, following instructions on the web, I created a ringtone using a track from a CD I had not bought from iTunes but uploaded to the computer. After a long time I managed to get it done and it is listed in the Ringtones section AND will play on the computer.

Try as I might, even though I have it ticked to sync Ringtones, when I connect my iphone to the computer it goes thru the sync but never downloads the created ringtone to the phone.... driving me mad - would be grateful for any advice from anyone in the UK who might know what to do.

Hi,

Ringtones are not available in the UK via the itunes store.

If you have a mac you can create your own ringtones and import them in to itunes.

If you don't have a mac you can use audiko.net or iringer.com to create ringtones and then put them on to itunes.

Works for me.

thanks for the reply. I know they are not available here in the Uk and so I created a ringtone using a track from a CD; got it done Ok in the right format and it is listed in Ringtones on itunes. It just won't sync to my phone when I connect it up! This is where I need advice really as to what to do, to make it transfer to the phone and be listed as a custom ringtone.

When your iPhone is connected to the PC, ensure itunes is open. When the iPhone screen appears in itunes go through the tabs till you get to ringtones. Ensure sync ringtones is ticked. Once you've sync'd the iPhone go to settings in the iPhone, then sounds and select custom ringtone.

That should be it, the only other thing to check is that the file code for the ringtone ends as .m4r file. Otherwise it won't work.

Thanks. I did everything you said - but couldn't find anywhere where it said Custom Ringtones in the settings--->sounds menu.

It is an M4r - it is listed in the ringtones folder and it plays on the computer... but now it says when syncing, that it cannot find the tune so it is not transferring it... cannot understand why it can't find it?
