HP Scanjet 5200C flatbed scanner- no drivers

I would like you advice. I have an older HP scanjet 5200c flatbed scanner. The HP American, Australian, and UK websites do not have ANY drivers for the iMac. Could you offer me any advice on how to use this scanner with my iMac?

I have tried VueScan with my HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One. It works well, better in fact than the scanning software from HP. The scanning software from HP clips off the ends of documents scanned through the automatic document feeder, doesn’t always scan to the size I set it to, messes up the page sizes of PDFs, and changes the resolution of documents without warning. VueScan suffers from none of these: in Guide Me mode, VueScan does what you expect it to; in Advanced mode, VueScan does what you tell it to (which may not be what you meant).

In Guide Me mode, VueScan is easy to use.

In Advanced mode, VueScan has a plethora of options and settings in a bewildering layout that does not behave in the way one would expect of a Macintosh application.

In my limited amount of testing, the OCR built into VueScan is not quite as accurate as that built into the HP software. Both VueScan and HP's software have far better OCR than the abysmal OCR in Presto Pagemanager.

VueScan seems to be originally a Windows app. It has no support for AppleScript nor for Automator. As such, it is not useful if you are wanting to automate any document processing; not even an easy way that I can see to save different settings for different types of documents.
