Pairing Apple Keyboard with Windows 7

Make sure you were able to install the keyboard manager. You may need to use the Troublesoot Compatibility and rerun (control click to see drop down list of options for installers).

Is the service running or not? check msconfig to see.

I have the exact same problem but with a BT wireless mighty mouse and Windows 7 with a Macbook Pro. Just stays on "connecting device" forever.

I think this problem is widespread. I just read on another two forums about people having the same issue with BT and W7. It seems the Bootcamp drivers (for MBPs at least) fail on two items in Windows 7; Bluetooth and Sound.

Sound was easy to fix (Realtek R214 drivers work perfectly through device manager/update device driver), but I haven't had any luck with BT.

On the same machine with Vista 32 my BT mighty mouse works flawlessly (Bootcamp 2.1) but I noticed that a BT driver component (I can't tell which) fails to install under Windows 7 (most likely the cause of this).

With the BT Mouse and Keyboard, I've found that you need to right click the device when you see it on screen when Windows detects them.

By right clicking, you'll see the 'properties' of the devices and you need to first check the box which installs the drivers of each device, under the 'Services' tab (from memory).

For me, it turned out that the windows 7 clean install could find all my bluetooth devices just fine, but the boot camp installer screwed it up.

I did a system restore to go back to not having the drivers and now it seems fine.

For weeks I've been struggling to get my Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 to pair properly with my MacBook (mid-2008) running Windows 7 beta 64 bit with no success, until now. I was literally on the verge of going out to buy a new wired laptop mouse.

This is clearly a problem with windows 7 64-bit. I had the same trouble with an apple BT keyboard but with a PC system running windows 7 64-bit. The keyboard work perfectly in 32bit, but in 64-bit it would see the keyboard by never manage to INSTALL the drivers.

i found that windows 7 64 bit wasn't generating a key on the windows side that i needed to type into my bluetooth keyboard. What i did:

1. When it's at the point saying connecting to device, i type 123456 and enter on the number pad of the bluetooth keyboard.
2. Windows will change wizard pages and ask for a keycode
3. Type 123456 in the box on your laptop/desktop keyboard

Now they should work.

Hello.. I'd like to add to this a little of what I have experienced. Ok, when I click on my bluetooth apple wireless keyboard I right click the device and select the HID drivers. Keyboard installs and works perfectly. BUT...


When I go and reboot/restart windows, I lose connection and have to hook up a wired keyboard just to enter my name and password. Is there a way to keep the keyboard connected even when I reboot/restart windows 7? Is this a windows 7 problem or bluetooth compatibility problem?

I've attempted to install my apple bluetooth keyboard in Windows 7 in bootcamp (I'm running Leopard 10.6.2) and I've followed the above suggestions without any success. The most success I attain is getting the keyboard working for several minutes until it decides to disconnect. I was even able to have it install and remain installed upon restart, but for some reason my computer would then not recognize my bluetooth mouse. I've attempted to install my keyboard using the regular passkey method, and that achieves momentary success. As I mentioned above, I've also tried the method whereby you add a new bluetooth device and right-click the device, choose properties from the drop-down menu and select the HID driver for keyboards and mice. This installs the keyboard momentarily, but it is never responsive. After about a minute, the keyboard disappears from the listed bluetooth devices. I'm just about at the point where I am going to take out my frustration on my keyboard with a sledge hammer. Does anyone have any suggestions that don't involve sitting idly while someone somewhere writes an updated driver to fix this issue?

That worked perfectly for my Mighty Mouse in Win7 32 bit on a late 2007 Macbook Pro. However, when trying to add my Apple BT keyboard, I don't get the HID option when I right click and go to properties on the keyboard. Any thoughts?
