Print Layout

Can I view a document in the traditional 'Print Layout' view as seen in Office? I found this picture, but couldn't figure out how to get there. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi BabaO,
If you're attempting to see the same as what your linked print then click View > Show Layout. Or click at the top left first icon View, it will give you numerous choices, click Show Layout, if it reads Hide Layout then click that.

If you're thinking MS Word Normal view, no, Pages doesn't have that view. Pages is a WYSIWYG.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks for both your suggestions. It's simple aesthetics, but I like to see the full page of my document as I type - I'm sure just because that's what I'm used to. I still can't get the left side of the page unpinned from the side of the window, but can certainly live with that in return for a far superior program.

Hi BabaO,
Yep, we are creatures of habit. As for unpinning the left side of Pages, no-can-do. Coming from other Word processors not being able to center the page would seem a strange thingy. I've become used to it not noticing it until a poster makes a comment about it.

A suggestion is to directly contact Team Pages, click at the top left Pages > Provide Pages Feedback. Explain your thoughts however, they won't respond. We here on these discussion forums are all endusers not affiliated with Apple.

Again have fun here.

Hi Peggy,
You're correct, Pages '09 has full screen view. That view covers the entire screen replacing access to the desktop. Press Esc to return to the normal Pages screen.

A MS Word document appears centered in its own window with equal amount of spacing left and right of the document. It's different than Pages, not better. Switchers from MS Word have asked in numerous threads about the Pages screen. It's just what one has become accustom.

I prefer Pages way of presenting both normal screen and full screen; full screen is uncluttered.

Cordially,

RicD
