Name service error for name

Hello all -- I'm having a weird error and mail stuck in the queue when users here in the office use webmail. Mail gets sent normally when using a email client like outlook or apple mail. Any ideas? I did recently tighten up the spam filter, but turning that off doesn't help.

Hmm. Your mailserver is accepting mail from Squirrelmail correctly in both cases.
It then throws an error when it should relay the message out to earthlink's SMTP server.

Since the recipient is not at earthlink, it shouldn't even try to look for an MX record for smtp.earthlink.net. This makes me think that the error shown does not reflect what is actually happening.

I would try and contact your ISP and ask them to check if their server rejects those messages for some reason (sometimes a small difference in how a header looks can be the cause and different mail clients will create different headers).

You could also try and have your mail server send out directly for the sake of testing and see what happens.

Yes, and yes. The folks at our ISP are clueless. I tried calling a few different times and got nowhere. When I try and send mail without the relay, I get the dreaded port 25 block. In server admin, under mail--> settings --> advanced I don't have any of the authentication or ssl options turned on. On the Earthlink support pages, they recommend using smtpauth.earth.net, then username then password. Could this be part of the problem? I really appreciate your time.
