Cleaning Clickwheel

Try rubbing a pencil eraser on the click wheel, I heard it works. Whatever you do, do not use anything wet. It could get under your click wheel from the sides and the center and screw up whatever is underneath.

I've recently restored my iPod (including clickwheel) and dock to their former scratch-free and glossy condition using a product called Polywatch. For the clickwheel I placed the tiniest amount of the paste onto a cloth and rubbed it in using my fingertip so as not to leave any excess. Then, I worked gently in a circle around the wheel so nothing could get between the edge and the iPod casing.

The results are astounding. I posted some preliminary pictures here;

I hadn't really touched the clickwheel at that point but now the whole thing is totally gleaming - as are my iMac and eMac!

wow! that stuffs great!!! where did you get this Polywatch stuff!

I found a supplier on the internet after a few minutes of searching - 4 tubes for £7.50 inc P&P, bargain. It polishes fine scratches out of anything and restores that lovely gloss finish. I've also seen it on eBay...
