Entering HTML Entity Codes

I haven't been able to find a way to insert HTML entity codes (specifically, to use em dashes, but other needs arise) through the interface. HTML snippets are intended for something entirely different. Apart from opening published output in an editor to insert the entity codes, is there a simple way that I've missed finding?

But as far as you know, there is no way to insert these special characters directly through the iWeb GUI?

Are you having some kind of problem doing it the normal way? em dash is entered in any app via option/alt + shift + hyphen (with the US layout). Or via the Character Palette (edit > special characters). Are you using a different layout? Is there some special reason you need to use the codes rather than just direct input?

Thank you for both replies. The keyboard shortcut did the trick, of course, and I'll print out a list to save future embarrassment. And I switched one of the ISO character sets and found everything I'd ever need in the way of logical symbols.

I've noticed that some times the Edit > Special Characters dialog won't open, and I'm trying to find a pattern that explains when it will fail and when it won't.

But I'm good for now. Thank you again.

Another way to get it is to go to system prefs/international/input menu, check the box for Character Palette, plus the box for Show input menu in finder. Then you can access it via the "flag" menu at the top right of the Finder.
