Repeat event only on the fifth week of the month

I would like for an event to repeat every month that has a 5th Sunday (or other day). The custom repeat menu only has first, second, third, fourth, or last as an option. Does anyone know a solution for this? Thanks, JCN

Hi,

Using iCal on OSX 10.4.11 I see the repeats on the first week of five week months. What's odd is they only appear when the first week includes some days from the previous month. When you are using Sunday as your first day of the week you would not see this for Sundays, but if you use Tuesday and the first Tuesday of the five week month is the first or second the event will show in the first week.

I'd call this a bug in iCal 2.0.5, but you're probably not going to get far getting it fixed, especially as you can't create an event that demonstrates it using iCal.

Best wishes

Re:
1. In iCal make an event on the 29th March this year.
2. Make it repeat in this pattern Custom > Monthly > 'on the' fourth Sunday.
3. Close editing.
4. Drag to copy the event on your Desktop.
5. Delete it in iCal.
6. Open the file you saved to the Desktop in a text editor.
7. Find the line that says RRULE:FREQ=MONTHLY;INTERVAL=1;BYDAY=4SU
8. Replace =4SU with =5SU
9. Save the file.
10. Drag the file back into iCal.

Thanks John.

I had the same problem. Then I saw your solution.
That worked really well.
Thank you for clear, simple, easy-to-follow instructions.

Regards

Gavin.
