iPhoto Network Library = SLOW SLOW SLOW

I'm having the same issue. I hope we see a fix ASAP.

And while you're reminding me it's a good opportunity to remind anyone else who's posted messages to provide feedback to Apple. It's important to let Apple know our concerns as without our feedback there should be no expectation that they simply know that somethings wrong.

Same problem here (Library on Time Capsule not opening 8060 items / 32GB).
I have filled in the feedback form.
With severall mac's and users in 1 network an other solution is not an option.
I hope Apple will fix this matter very swiftly.

Having the same problem spinning ball of death for about five minutes so turned off sharing in preferences and starts fine now, now to sort out the maps as that takes ages to load.

Just to add my name to the list, iPhoto 09 with the library over a wireless network is unusable.

Same problem here.

Connected with "n" wifi or direct on the switch it's the same thing.

iphoto 09 : 3 min to start vs 30 sec with iphoto08 (same LAN config)

Same here, not workable on wireless NAS with 09: waiting for more than 6 minutes.
08 was oke for me with only 20 sec for 86 gig on wireless NAS.

Exactly the same here - I think, however, I've been importing my library for 3 days now....

20Gig of photos on Networked HDD.....import crashed after 6 hours (not an upgrade, just creating a new iPhoto folder on Network drive to import the 20gig from another part of the network drive) So restarted yesterday @11am

Finally finished the import last night, it then moved into 'Finishing Import' for aprox 3 hours (6,000 images) then I had control....ish.....as it started scanning faces at 10pm last night.

This morning, it had gone into sleep while doing this and as I write (11.37am) it is still scanning. Although apparently it is 'useable' while this is happening, it hangs all of the time.

I have a new Macbook and an older iMac G5 but they both have same problem.
iPhoto Library on a network storage like Time Capsule does not work anymore.
When I place the Library local it works again. But I dont want local copies of the Library. Thats a big reason why i did by the Time Capsule.

Sure did....I dont want to have to move everything locally - they need to sort out a patch for this

I had a good advise from a whise old "man";

"Try the following: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select only the last option."

It opens iPhoto but it takes for me a long time, about 2 minutes, to load. But I can now acces it so thats already very helpful.

I have exactly the same problem. Fine with '08 ... not with '09 version.

I have 43k photos on a firewire 800 1tb drive, it seems to be 2-3x slower since 09

Apple, please improve your software testing procedures!

We are not talking about details here, but just the fact that a new piece of software is simply unusable.
