Double-Click on photo = Black Screen

I have some high quality (for me) photos that came from a professional wedding photographer. They are about 4mb a piece. In iPhoto 08 I had no problem with them. I could move them around, print, do whatever I needed.

With iPhoto 09... when I double-click on them to bring them up to the larger size so that I can see greater detail and edit them... the picture goes to black.

Any clue as to what is going on?? My wife is going to kill me if she can't get to her wedding pictures easily!

This is so so bad. For all intents and purposes I have lost more than 2000 photos, some of which represented a considerable amount of labor in Photoshop. Much of this thread seems to be written in the kind of Greek I associate with MSDOS and Windows, and those solutions don't seem to be working anyway. I am certainly not going to do an archive and reinstall if it isn't likely to help. Moreover, iPhoto won't even export the corrupted files to the desktop, and the files cannot be located by searchlight. So there is no way to simply work with them outside of iPhoto.

I am absolutely irate. Apple needs some serious clarification on the concept of "upgrade." I want iPhoto 6 back.

If you want to access these files

Try right click on the pic in the iPhoto Window and go Show File from the resulting menu.

To recover them from iPhoto simply go to the iPhoto Library in your Pictures Folder and right click on it. Form the resulting menu choose ‘Show Package Contents’. A Finder window will open with the Library exposed. The Originals are in the Originals folder. If they’ve been edited the edited version is in the Modified folder.

I am absolutely irate.

IPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback

I want iPhoto 6 back.

Re-install it.
