Smart Album of Pictures Without a Location Specified

+*How to find Photos without Places+*

*To begin (once off):*
1. Show keywords by pressing Cmd-K or select from the 'Window' menu.
2. Click 'edit keywords'
3. Add a keyword with the title 'geotagged' and assign the shortcut 'g' to it.
4. Create a new smart album, Cmd-Opt-N, or select from the 'File menu'
5. Match the following condition: Keyword, does not contain geotagged

*To refresh your 'Not in Places' smart album (at anytime)*
1. Go to Places, select all (Cmd-A), then press 'g' twice to toggle the 'geotagged' keyword.
2. Return to smart album.
3. Voilá!

~ Ensure you refresh the keyword tags when you add new places to existing photos ~

but doesn't this way require you to put another tag on all the geotagged pics?

i saw an option the smart playlist for 'place' but i don't get the options. there is a condition 'place' 'is on map' then 'GPS values from map'. but no results come up...

I'm not sure how to implement this but the potential is there

it doesn't include ones manually tagged.
Now to tag 5,198 photos.....

I'm afraid that this smart album option only works with photos that were tagging before importing to iPhoto. It won't update as you add Places to photos in iPhoto, defeating the purpose of a Smart Album!!

Regarding the issue of 'another keyword', it is a single keypress to remove the keyword once you are done with geotagging your whole album.

Using a 'geotagged' keyword is the only way at the moment to continually update and see how many photos are left for geotagging. It is working quite effectively for me, I only have 2,500 of more than 16,000 photos not in Places.

Really? Not working?

It works great for me. I created the smart album with "Picture" + "is not" + "Geotagget with GPS". It gives me a list of about 15k photos out of my 30k. When I select like 100 of them, and assign a GPS-tag manually they immediately dissapear from the album, working exacly as it should.

Am I missing something? It seemes to work great here.....

I just did a test smart album "photo is not tagged with GPS" on a test library with no photos imported with GPS on them and it found only the ones I have not yet coded using Places - so I found that it works perfectly
